Gone Daddy Blues
PI David Randall has sworn off chasing deadbeat dads. But when he receives a message from his little daughter's spirit, he has a change of heart. But his case is complicated when Camden decides not to be psychic, and Randall's pursuit of the gone daddy leads him to a serial killer with a yen for blond hair.
Fatal Fantasy
David Randall and his friend Camden are enjoying ExtravaganzaCon when two people are murdered in the convention hotel. To find the killer, Randall has to deal with a Faerie Queen, a disruptive Batman, and an artist whose horrific paintings may hold a clue.
Deadly Dreams
PI David Randall and his psychic friend Camden are trying to find a connection between two recent unexplained suicides. Xavier the Great, an egotistical hypnotist and astrologer, and Maggie La Rue, an expert with the Ouija Board, are both capable of influencing peoples’ thoughts. Are they also capable of manipulating murderous dreams? Randall’s up against mysterious and evil forces as well as dealing with Camden’s growing telekinesis.
Never Let Her Go
PI David Randall is not a fan of singer Sherry White, but when he learns she has received threatening letters, he agrees to help with security for her concerts in Parkland. When Sherry’s personal psychic quits, Randall enlists Camden to help Sherry deal with her stage fright.
Sherry’s diva personality has made her unpopular with a number of suspects. Randall’s investigation is complicated by Cam’s drag queen friend Denny, who is in town for an unconventional version of South Pacific, the ghost of a young dancer haunting the theater, and the fact that since teaching jobs are scarce, he and Kary might have to move away from Grace Street.
And as always, there is the ever present danger of the rogue demons the spirit of Randall’s little daughter continues to warn him about.
Goblin Market
PI David Randall enlists the aid of his psychic friend, Camden, to track down Spektro, an elusive clairvoyant whose phony prophesies are causing heartbreak in Parkland, NC. The trail leads to a popular fantasy role-playing game, Flickering Shadows, which Spektro is obsessed with. Meanwhile, Randall is hired to find a missing girl, whose best friend thinks she ran away from her over-strict parents to participate in the Flickering Shadows Halloween extravaganza.
Randall and friends (in full costume) head to the graveyard on Halloween night to infiltrate the game in search of both Spektro and the missing girl. But Spectro’s powers of persuasion turn out to be not-so-phony after all, and a horde of spellbound ghouls and goblins gathers to protect their Shadow Lord, determined to play the fantasy game for real.
The Grace Street novels balance on the thin line that separates mysteries with elements of fantasy from fantasies with elements of mainstream mysteries. This balance allows the author to reach a broad spectrum of readers, all of whom should be very pleased with this new novel. Tesh is a fine writer (she is also the author of the Madeline Maclin mystery series), and readers searching for something a little different need look no further than this genre-bending series.
